SAWDUST IN OUR VEINS
You might say trees are in our blood. You might even say we "have sawdust in our veins". James Glenn, A Cut Above Tree Service's founder and creator, and his family have been working with and demonstrating their love for trees for three generations.
James had his passion for trees and tree work instilled upon him by his father, Travis. His father left Daveys Tree Service in 1970 to start his own tree service, Quality Tree Care.
James's earliest memories are of his father and the sound of a chainsaw. Throughout his formative years, James learned a lot about trees - from the different species, to their role in nature, to how to cut one so that it could twist and fall directly on a tin can (Thanks, Dad).
In 2002, James relocated to the East Coast. He had never seen so many trees in his life. At the time, he worked for a large corporate firm, from which he is thankful to have learned many of the skills that he still uses today. But the one lesson he learned that he will never forget is that there is nothing like a family-owned business. His heartstrings called him home.
As a second generation Idahoan, his love for this area and its land called him back in 2009 from the East Coast. James started his company shortly thereafter. Living in the Boise area, "The Land of Trees", it was hard to not think about tree work, and environmental impact and improvement. James grew up seeing the old methods, and knew he could look into better ways. Through on-the-ground research, classes, and continuing education on leading-edge industry standards and methods, we have pushed ourselves to the forefront of a sustainable, environmentally-friendly industry.

Here at A Cut Above Tree Service, we've always held ourselves to the highest quality of standards and service for our customers. Due to the ongoing rapid growth in the Treasure Valley and the expanding demand for qualified help, we recently decided to merge with another successful and reputable tree service provider here in the Treasure Valley to serve our loyal customers best. This business decision has allowed us to have a new general manager for all tree service operations. Our new GM, Victor Benavente, has extensive experience in the tree industry.
A Cut Above Tree Service's founder James Glenn is still involved, but we wanted to inform you, our customers, of this decision and change. As many of you know, James has been working with trees for 35 years, dedicating his time to arboriculture, fire fighting, and growing the business. Growing A Cut Above Tree Service has been one of our greatest pleasures.
We look forward to watching it evolve in a new fashion, continuing to care for our local communities and customers.
